The wood stove works! As a quick followup to an earlier post on what the fuel equivilance is here between wood and propane, especially with the wood stove. Now that we've been in the new house for a few months, we have a better idea of the heating costs. Our propane vendor, WO Stinson gives us "degree days" which is a measure of how cold it is. A long story short, you can easily convert between degree days, and the amount of fuel you would have expected to use. Great when you're a stats junkie like me. :) Since I had spent a bunch of time at home last month using the wood stove, I was hopeful that I would see an impact on our bill. I then did a calculation as to the litres of propane per degree day, and compared the months. I figure that last month we consumed about $100 less in propane than we normally would have, which was actually slightly better than I had previously calculated (hurrah!). Consider this a strong endosement for our little Napolean wood stove!
