I don't miss Windows XP

I've had to use Windows XP again recently and there's a few things that I've noticed.  Things like it doesn't handle large groups of windows (and windows of tabs of items).  So even for the same resources, it doesn't feel as crisp when you've got a bunch of things open.  And most of all it's how I have 10 add-on programs to get it to do what I need that are in the task bar, or otherwise running.

With that in mind I thought back to when it was developed.  I was in computer science and we still submitted everything on floppy disks (so most computers had them).*  We shared a broadband connection, but they weren't common yet.  Home networks were still uncommon, and mine was still wired (kids, even Laptops were wired back in the day!) until after it came out.

In those regards, it's not really fair to compare... but Windows 7 is a much smoother operating system.

Makes me think.  Also in technology terms, I'm old.  Really old.

*At the time (2001) I had just finished an internship for a little company called "Nortel" too, to really date myself. :(
